Red quinoa comes from the flowering plant Chenopodium quinoa, which is native to South America. Also called Inca Red, it was the choice of Inca soldiers, who believed the red colour gave them strength during battle.

Uses:
- Quinoa needs to be rinsed off before cooking to get rid of saponification (soapiness) which causes a bitter flavour.
- 2 cups salted boiling water to 1 cup rinsed Red Quinoa
- Add to salads, use as a base for a Budda Bowl.
- Add to savoury muffins
- Add to boiling salted water till softened
- Use as a breakfast dish with Avo & scrambled eggs
- Has a nutty earthy flavour
